Conocarpus Saudi<\/strong>\u00a0also known as\u00a0<\/span>Buttonwood\u00a0\u00a0is<\/span>\u00a035\u00a0ft (11\u00a0m) tall,\u00a0has a spread of<\/span>\u00a070\u00a0ft (21\u00a0m), and a circumference of<\/span>\u00a0207\u00a0in (530\u00a0cm).\u00a0The bark is thick and has broad plates of thin scales which are\u00a0<\/span>gray to brown. The twigs are<\/span>\u00a0brittle, and<\/span>\u00a0angled or narrowly winged\u00a0in cross-section. The\u00a0leaves\u00a0are alternately arranged, simple and oblong,<\/span>\u00a02\u20137\u00a0cm (0.79\u20132.76\u00a0in)\u00a0long (rarely to\u00a0<\/span>10\u00a0cm or 3.9\u00a0in long) and<\/span>\u00a01\u20133\u00a0cm (0.39\u20131.18\u00a0in)\u00a0broad, \u00a0with a tapering tip and an entire margin. They are dark green and shiny on top, and paler with fine silky hairs underneath, and have two salt glands at the base of each leaf.\u00a0\u00a0The fruits are\u00a0button-like (from which the common names derive), 5\u20138\u00a0mm (0.20\u20130.31\u00a0in) diameter, with no petals; they are produced in stalked\u00a0panicles\u00a0of 35-56 flowers<\/span><\/p>\n
